Friendships are a sign of happiness in oneself. I feel that in order to have happiness you must have friends for many reasons. Friends are good to talk to when you need someone, or even just to have for comfort. Friends help us make it through the rough times and help celebrate the good times. Having friends can lower the level of stress and or depression, and create greater levels of happiness. Friendships can occupy the emotional space that significant others or spouses fill. Friendships can also show strong support, affection and give you confidence. For example, “Friendship isn’t about whom you have known the longest, it’s about who came and never left your side.” (Unknown-no name)
Achievements can play a role of happiness in our life. When you achieve a goal it makes you feel good about yourself. “Goals can be a great Thing; we just need to do a better job making sure they don’t turn into expectations that leaves us disappointed and unhappy.” (Richards) You must be motivated to outcome your achievements and put your mind into it. Everybody should make a difference, contribute value and do work they can be proud of. “Achievement is a thing done successfully, typically by effort, courage, or skill.”(Fischer) Goals help us focus on our efforts of being and doing better. After you have achieved a goal, you know you have accomplished something and your reward is always happiness.
We gain happiness by who we are, not what we have. It is a mental attitude or state of mind. Happiness can be produced about our life and what happens to us. Many people have different personalities; these personalities express who we are. No one can change who you are and how you do things. Being yourself is what makes you happy. You don’t need things to make you happy, what you have isn’t important in life. Your surroundings shouldn’t affect your happiness because it is on the outside, happiness comes from within oneself. “Authentic happiness is always independent of external conditions; your happiness can only be found within.”(Richards)
