1.  Using a Highlighter, Identify the background and THESIS statment in each one of the examples provided on the INTRODUCTION & THESIS HANDOUT distributed in class today.

Be prepared to share this in class on Tuesday. Please remember that the Introduction is the first box in the 5paragraph essay. (I made photocopies of this handout and will distribute in class on Tuesday) Students usually write an Introduction and Thesis statement after they construct a pre-writing draft and before they begin writing their topic sentences.

BACKGROUND – HOOK and DEVELOPMENT THESIS – 2 sentence statement – What is the main idea of your essay? What is your essay about?

PLEASE COMPLETE THIS IN YOUR TEXT or TYPE IT UP
