DUE on Thursday 9/20


 1. Read Chapter 6 in the Text " Four Bases for Revising Writing" pp. 140-165.
Please note the points that Langan makes regarding  Unity, Coherence (clarity) and Support.  Once you have carefully read the ENTIRE Chapter, complete Activity 4, 5, 10,12 in the text.

2. Based on our in class writing workshop please make the necessary changes to " A Big Decision". Your revised draft should be typed and is due on Thursday 9/20.  Please attach your pr-writing and your peer's comments to your revised draft.

You will staple and hand in:
  • Pre-Writing (written)
  • Your Partner's suggestions: Peer Editing Worksheet
  • Your Revised Copy.  DO NOT  ATTACH YOUR FIRST DRAFT

 3. Watch  "Killing Us Softly" with Jean Kilbourne "Advertising's Image of Women." 
Watch the Video TWICE.

The first time- listen to the points Kilbourne makes and develop ideas based on the major points.
The second time you view it take notes - SEE NOTE-TAKING HANDOUT.

Re-watch the video with your first set of notes in front of you. Add to your notes... draw boxes, highlight main points.. use bullet points... jot down important quotes, jot down questions, cluster an idea... etc...  use stars and/or circles. You can organize your notes in any way that you like as long as you CAN UNDERSTAND THEM AND USE THEM (without the video) TO PERFORM TASKS IN A WRITER's WORKSHOP on Thursday. 

Once you have completed the above task for the Jean Kilbourne Video do the same for the "Dove" videos.
